Abstract:

Compact Hausdorff spaces $X$ of cohomological dimension ${\dim _Z}X \leq n$ are characterized as cell-like images of compact Hausdorff spaces $Z$ with covering dimension $Z \leq n$. The proof essentially uses the newly developed techniques of approximate inverse systems.
