Notes on the Deuring-Heilbronn Phenomenon
Jeffrey Stopple
L-functions are generalizations of Riemann's zeta function. The Generalized Riemann Hypothesis asserts that these also have zeros only on the vertical line through 1/2. The Deuring-Heilbronn phenomenon explores how a counterexample affects zeros of other L-functions. The author sketches a proof and considers the implications.
