A.T.V.’s for (Geometric) Off-roading: A Gentle Introduction to Arithmetic Toric Varieties
Patrick K. McFaddin
The purpose of this article is to give a small sampling of the theory of arithmetic toric varieties, focusing on simple examples in low dimension using explicit polynomial equations. A second goal is to highlight the class of arithmetic toric varieties as the most natural testing ground to study the limitations of algebro-geometric invariants in the arithmetic setting.

Conway’s Mathematics After Conway
Alex Ryba, Philip Ehrlich, Richard Kenyon, Jeffrey Lagarias, James Propp and Louis H. Kauffman
John Conway challenged and inspired us in many different ways. His influence can be seen across so many areas of mathematics that a complete account would fill many volumes, which would continue to expand forever. These three articles present very different parts of mathematics where modern approaches are built on foundations laid by John.
Foliations on Complex Manifolds
Carolina Araujo and João Paulo Figueredo
In this article we survey some aspects of the theory of holomorphic foliations on complex manifolds. We briefly discuss some of the early works on this theory, mostly concerned with the local behavior of the leaves near the singularities. We then move the focus from local to global properties.
