Normalizing Flows Aided Variational Inference: A Useful Alternative to MCMC?
Sumegha Premchandar, Bhattacharya Shrijita and Maiti Tapabrata
This article discusses the use of normalizing flows for variational inference (VI), a method wherein we can approximate and sample from complex probability densities. Normalizing flows are primarily used for modeling continuous distributions and can be used to specify very flexible probability models, thus improving the accuracy of VI algorithms.

Tropical Geometry Forwards and Backwards
Dhruv Ranganathan
This article gives an introduction to the process of tropicalization; discusses the “backwards direction,” i.e., the tropical inverse problem; and sketches how tropicalization, both forwards and backwards, predicts new theorems in traditional algebraic geometry.
