The Council, Board of Trustees, and Executive Committee and Board of Trustees have authorized a variety of standing and ad hoc committees which are responsible to them. These committees make significant contributions to the Society's policymaking deliberations and to its various programs and services.
In 1993, the Council established five policy committees to correspond to the five major areas in which the mission of the Society is concentrated: Education, Meetings and Conferences, the Profession, Publications, and Science Policy.
