The Mathematics Department of Rutgers University–New Brunswick invites applications for the following positions which may be available starting September 2025.

TENURE STREAM FACULTY: Contingent upon the availability of funding, the department plans to hire at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor with a particular emphasis in the areas of algebra & algebraic geometry, and discrete mathematics. However, all exceptional candidates at any level will be considered. Candidates must have a PhD and have a strong record of research accomplishments in mathematics as well as effective teaching. HILL AND OTHER ASSISTANT PROFESSORSHIPS: The Hill Assistant Professorship is a three-year nontenure-track, nonrenewable, postdoctoral appointment. These positions carry a teaching load of 2–1 for research. Contingent upon funding, we will be offering one or more of these positions. Other postdoctoral positions of varying duration and teaching loads may also be available. Candidates should have received a PhD and show outstanding promise of research ability in pure or applied mathematics, as well as a capacity for effective teaching. Review of applications begins December 1, 2024; applications after that date may be considered if the positions have not been filled.

TEACHING FACULTY: Teaching Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor in Mathematics. Contingent upon the availability of funding we may have one or more renewable nontenure-track teaching positions at the level of Teaching Instructor, with the possibility of appointment at a higher level (Assistant Teaching Professor) for exceptionally well-qualified candidates. This position has a teaching load of 4–4 (four undergraduate courses in each of the fall and spring semesters), with possible teaching reductions for administrative, advising, or other departmental duties. Tenure-track or Tenured Positions in Pure Mathematics (2024–2025)

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Utah invites applications for the following positions:

One or more full-time tenure-track or tenured positions in pure mathematics at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Areas of focus are algebraic geometry, number theory, and representation theory; outstanding candidates in other areas of pure mathematics may also be considered.

A full-time tenure-track or tenured position in mathematical biology at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Ideal candidate would have demonstrated excellence in mechanistic modeling of biological systems and would fit with and complement our existing research strengths.

A full-time, non-tenure-track, career-line Assistant Professor (Lecturer) position to teach mathematics courses at the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC) in Songdo, Incheon, South Korea.

Several non-tenure-track postdoctoral positions. These are 3-year, termed positions that involve research and teaching. Successful applicants might also receive additional opportunities through the Cecil Edmund Burgess and C. R. Wiley endowed Instructorships, as well as individual faculty research.

Several non-tenure-track postdoctoral positions in Applied Mathematics. These are 3-year, termed positions that involve research and teaching, and are funded by the department’s NSF Research Training Grant “Optimization and Inversion for the 21st Century Workforce.” Outstanding candidates in areas of optimization, inverse problems, mathematics of materials and fluids, and mathematical climate science, as well as related areas in data science, machine learning and statistics will be considered. Applications from other fields of applied mathematics may be considered as long as they fit in the overarching goals of the RTG.

The anticipated start date for these positions is July 1, 2025.
