Independence of boundary divisors in the space of admissible covers

Abstract:

The boundary components of $\overline {\mathcal {M}}_{g}$ have linearly independent divisor classes, as is easily seen by a simple test curve argument. We prove the analogous independence result for the boundary components of the (normalization of the) space of admissible covers.
