Einstein Public Lecture in Mathematics

The 2021 Einstein Public Lecture in Mathematics is part of this meeting and will take place virtually on Saturday March 20, 2021, 1:30 - 2:30 pm. It will be delivered by Professor Abba Gumel of Arizona State University: Mathematics of Infectious Diseases. The lecture is free to the public. Register to attend.

Mathematics has historically been used as a vital tool for providing insight and understanding on the mechanisms of the spread, control, and mitigation of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.

This lecture will address some of the mathematical techniques and theories used to formulate, parametrize, and analyze mathematical models for the transmission dynamics and control of infectious diseases.

Professor Gumel will emphasize discussion on infectious diseases that continue to inflict major public health and socio-economic challenges to humankind, including the ongoing novel 2019 coronavirus pandemic.
