Welcome to AMS Open Math Notes, a repository of freely downloadable mathematical works hosted by the American Mathematical Society as a service to researchers, faculty and students. Open Math Notes includes:

Lectures on linear algebraic groups

This is a quick introduction to the main structural results for affine algebraic groups over algebraically closed fields with full proofs but assuming only a very modest background. The necessary techniques from algebraic geometry are developed from scratch along the way.
