REU in Uzbekistan

Research Experience for Undergraduates / Undergraduate students, Institutions and Programs

The International Research Experience for Students in Uzbekistan is a National Science Foundation-funded program that gives U.S. students summer research experience in Uzbekistan, the birthplace of algebra. The students will spend 8 weeks at the Institute of Mathematics of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences conducting joint research in the following areas: Leibniz Algebras, Harmonic Analysis, Dynamical Systems, Algebraic Topology, Homological Algebras, Inverse Problems for fractional PDEs, and Nonlinear Evolution PDEs. The cultural component of the program includes visiting the Silk Road cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Nukus, and Khiva.

Programs date:
Option 1. June 20 - July 17, 2021 (virtual) and July 18 - August 15, 2021 (in person).
Option 2. June 20 - July 17, 2021 (virtual) and December 19, 2021 - January 15, 2022 (in person).


Applications will be accepted from April 15 to May 14, 2021.

Note: We currently have funding for students who participate in LSAMP programs. Other students are welcome to apply if they can secure their own institutional funding. NSF funding for summer of 2021 is currently pending.
