Office of Government Relations Advocating at the federal level for the mathematical sciences

The Office of Government Relations (OGR) represents the AMS in science policy discussions at the federal level. We advocate for Congressional support of research funding and other policies that affect the profession. We work with federal agencies, legislative staffs, professional societies, and Washington-centered policy action groups to advance AMS policy priorities. We provide support and advice to the AMS, its members, and the larger mathematics community about federal government actions and opportunities.

Critical to the work of the OGR is the development and maintenance of relationships with government agencies, professional organizations, the Washington offices of universities, coalitions, and the Washington offices of business and industry. OGR activities strengthen the involvement of mathematics in science policy considerations, and simultaneously support mathematicians at all stages of their mathematical careers.
