The AMS will provide approximately 50 reimbursement grants, one per family, to help with the cost of child care, and free parents to participate more fully in the 2023 Joint Mathematics Meetings in Boston, MA. Registration for the JMM 2023 and membership in the AMS will be required to apply for this program. Details on how to apply will be posted on the JMM website by the end of August.

AMS Sectional Meetings

The AMS provides a limited number of reimbursement grants of US$125 per family to help with the cost of child care for registered participants of Sectional Meetings. These funds may be used for any form of child care that frees a parent to participant more fully in the meeting, whether on-site or at home.

You must be registered for the meeting as well as be an AMS member in order to apply for this program. Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, one per family, and one per season (i.e. Spring or Fall).

Final decisions on recipients are made approximately three weeks after the application deadline. Please see each application for details. The AMS does not offer any on-site child care services, nor will the AMS make any recommendations for child care providers. All grant recipients will must make their own arrangements if they choose to use a local child care provider.

Details on the distribution of grant funds will be sent to all recipients before the meeting, but please note that each recipient will be required to submit a completed W-9 form prior to the meetings to receive a check. Please note that all recipients are solely responsible for arranging child care. You may apply this grant toward child care expenses at home or at the meeting (such as hiring a nanny at home, bringing a caregiver with you, etc.). This gives you the freedom to use these funds in the way that is most useful to your family.
