The American Mathematical Society provides this information as a service to the mathematical community, particularly for publishers of independent mathematics journals.

Metadata is structured data which describes the characteristics of an article (or resource). The use of metadata by publishers preserves information regarding each article and facilitates data exchange between authors and publishers. Metadata can also help to facilitate linking of mathematical literature on the web.  The information provided here is intended to:

  • provide publishers with guidelines for how to create metadata for their articles; and
  • provide publishers with guidelines for how to register for Digital Object Identifiers (DOI's) for their articles.
