"Math as a Secret Decoder of Markets and Mysticism": Review of the moviePi. Reviewed by Stephen Holden. New York Times, 3 April 1998.
The movie Pi, a "zany spoof of the Frankenstein myth," presents acharacter who is obsessed with trying to prove that the movements of the stockmarket are mathematically predictable. His obsession leads him to shave hishead in order to plug his brain into a computer. Holden appreciates some ofthe ideas presented in the film but found that its low-tech camera work andediting made it "awfully hard to watch."
