The Annales scientifiques de l'École normale supérieure was founded in 1864 by Louis Pasteur. The journal dealt with subjects touching on physics, chemistry and natural sciences. Around the turn of the century, it was decided that the journal should be devoted to mathematics.  Today, the Annales are open to all fields of mathematics. The Editorial Board, with the help of referees, selects articles which are mathematically very substantial. The journal insists on maintaining a tradition of clarity and rigour in the exposition.

Founded in 1973, Astérisque publishes monographs of the highest quality in French and English. The texts are chosen for their originality or for the novelty of the presentation they give to a field. Each volume is devoted to one subject, and all the mathematical fields are covered. Astérisque publishes at least 8 volumes per year. One of them, devoted to the Séminaire Bourbaki, is edited under the responsibility of Nicolas Bourbaki. The editorial committee is looking for texts of the highest quality regarding both the mathematical content and its exposition. Each manuscript is deeply studied by a referee.  See more about this journal at the SMF website.

The Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France was founded in 1873. It has published works by some of the most prestigious mathematicians, including H. Poincaré, E. Borel, E. Cartan, A. Grothendieck, and J. Leray. It continues to be a journal of the highest mathematical quality using a rigorous refereeing process, as well as a discerning selection procedure. Its editorial board members have diverse specializations in mathematics, ensuring that articles in all areas of mathematics are considered. Promising work by young authors is encouraged. See more about this journal at the SMF website.

Associated with the Bulletin de la SMF, the Mémoires de la SMF publish long research articles or monographs of the highest mathematical quality that are at least 60 pages. The editorial committee is the same as that of the Bulletin de la SMFSee more about this journal at the SMF website.
