Transportation

The Port Columbus International Airport (CMH) is located approximately 78 miles from campus (approximately 90 minutes by car) and is served by all major airlines. For more information visit http://www.port-columbus.com/.

All Points Transportation provides transportation to and from the Columbus airport. Their service is available 24 hours a day, but you must call and make a reservation at least 24 hours prior to your desired departure time. All Points Transportation can be reached at 740-927-9778.

Driving: Morton Hall is located on the south end of the Athens Campus of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. Travel information to the Athens Campus of Ohio University can be obtained at http://www.ohiou.edu/athens/travel.html.

Directions from the Airport: From Port Columbus International Airport: As you leave the airport, get onto I-270 South (it may be marked "Wheeling", because that direction takes you to the I-70 interchange). You will travel approximately 10 miles on I-270. As you approach the I-70 interchange, I-270 splits into two sets of lanes. It does not matter which set you take, but the left set has less merging traffic, so it is usually a bit faster. If you take the right set, stay to the left so that you don't get forced onto I-70.

Immediately after the I-70 interchange, the two sets of lanes remerge. Once that has settled out, change lanes toward the right so that you will be positioned to take US 33 East, Exit 46B (the second off-ramp at the I-270/US 33 interchange). Travel on US 33E for approximately 68 miles from I-270, driving through Lancaster, Logan, and Nelsonville, passing the first OH 682 exit (for "The Plains"). If there is a stop sign at the end of the OH 682 off-ramp, you have taken the exit for The Plains. You can turn right, go to the fourth traffic light, and turn left onto Richland Avenue, or get back on the highway and follow the directions in the next paragraph.

After US 33E joins US 50W in Athens, take Exit 17 for OH 682N. Turn right at the first traffic light onto Richland Avenue to cross the Hocking River, and enter the Ohio University campus. Turn right at the traffic light onto South Green Drive. Stay on South Green Drive for approximately 0.6 miles. Turn left onto N. McKinley Avenue. Follow this to the stop sign. At the stop sign you will be facing a parking lot and Morton Hall.

From the North or West through Columbus, Ohio: If you are driving from the North or West, take I-270 around Columbus, OH, to the southeast side.

Take US 33 East, Exit 46B, following US 33E approximately 68 miles from I-270, driving through Lancaster, Logan, and Nelsonville, passing the first OH 682 exit (for "The Plains").

From northeast Ohio: If you are driving from the Cleveland or Akron area, take I-77S toward Marietta. You will pass several off-ramps from I-77 onto OH 821.

Just before Marietta, take Exit 6 from I-77; it is marked "Lower Salem & Marietta" and "OH 821S". At the off-ramp stop sign, turn right, following the sign "to OH 7 South". OH 821S runs parallel to I-77 in the direction you were headed.

Go a couple of miles to the "T" intersection at the end of OH 821, where there is a traffic light; turn left onto OH 60S, and drive another couple of miles into town, straight through several traffic lights. Turn right at a traffic light immediately following the sign for "Junction OH 7" onto OH 7S, and drive along the Ohio River to Belpre. Stay on OH 7 as it joins US 50W and OH 32W at Belpre (across the Ohio River from Parkersburg, WV; this happens at the first bridge over the Ohio River south of Marietta). Once you are on US 50W, in Belpre, you have about 45 minutes still to go.

Stay on US 50W all the way up the Hocking River valley to the city of Athens. This will require an exit from the OH 7 fourlane less than a mile west of the small sign to turn left for "downtown Coolville". US 50 has just recently been upgraded and is now four lanes all the way from Belpre to Athens. There may be some construction zones between Coolville and Athens, with reduced speed limits or lane restrictions during final work.

After US 33E joins US 50W in Athens, take Exit 17 for OH 682N. Turn right at the first traffic light onto Richland Avenue to cross the Hocking River, and enter the OhioUniversity campus. Turn right at the traffic light onto South Green Drive. Stay on South Green Drive for approximately 0.6 miles. Turn left onto N. McKinley Avenue. Follow this to the stop sign. At the stop sign you will be facing a parking lot and Morton Hall.

From southwest Ohio: If you are driving from southwest Ohio, take OH 32E to Athens. If you are driving from the Chillicothe area, take US 50E to Athens.

Just west of Albany, OH, at the Ohio University Airport, OH 32E and US 50E join. Continue east on OH 32 and US 50. Pass the exit for US 33E to Pomeroy, OH (that off-ramp exits to the left).

Take Exit 17 for OH 682N. You will have gone about nine miles from the airport.
