The meetings and conferences of the AMS provide the mathematical community with an environment that is stimulating, rewarding, well-organized, and affordable. Participants have the opportunity to discuss the latest research and network informally with colleagues. Start here to begin exploring the meetings and conferences that we offer and how they can make a positive difference for you.
Generally known as the Joint Mathematics Meetings (JMM), the annual national meetings of the AMS are held for the purpose of advancing mathematical achievement, encouraging research, and providing the communication necessary to progress in the field. The 2021 JMM occurred virtually, January 6-9, 2021.
Beginning in 2022, the AMS will solely manage the JMM. This is a chance to reimagine the JMM. How would you rethink or improve the meetings? Please offer your suggestions, ideas, and vision for the JMM in 2022 and beyond.
The AMS joins a host society from another country once a year to organize these meetings for members of the mathematical community both in the U.S. and abroad.
The AMS holds eight sectional meetings annually. Generally, there is one meeting in the spring and one in the fall in each section of the U.S. The 2020 Fall Sectional Meetings will be held virtually.
The AMS offers one or two short courses each year in conjunction with the Joint Mathematics Meetings.
The AMS offers regularly scheduled conferences, usually held during the summer, in a relaxed atmosphere such as a university campus or a resort. The three types of conferences in this category are the Mathematics Research Communities, AMS von Neumann Symposia, and the AMS Annual Mini-conference on Education.
The AMS hosts a variety of special lectures at the Joint Mathematics Meetings, sectional meetings, and other conferences. These special lectures include the Arnold Ross Lectures, the Colloquium Lectures, the Current Events Bulletin Lectures, the Einstein Public Lectures in Mathematics, the Erdös Memorial Lectures, and the Gibbs Lectures.
