In the figure below, you may add a tile by clicking on the edge along which you would like to add the tile. If the resulting patch is not consistent with some inflated patch, then the tile will not be added. As a result, the patch at any time may be extended indefinitely.

Gray tiles that appear are "forced" tiles. That is, these tiles must be present if the current patch is to be extended.
