Abstract:
We construct an equivariant collection of contractions of the compactified Culler-Vogtmann outer space ${\overline X _n}$. As a consequence, we prove that any finite subgroup of the outer automorphism group of a free group fixes a contractible subset of ${\bar X_n}$.References
