Accommodations

Participants should make their own arrangements directly with the hotel. The rates quoted for the DoubleTree Hotel are available until September 15. When making a reservation identify yourself as being with the UNM Math and Stat group attending the AMS Meeting. After September 15th, rooms may not be available at the quoted price. The AMS is not responsible for rate changes or for the quality of the accommodations. Rates quoted do not include taxes. Hotels have varying cancellation or early checkout penalties; be sure to ask details when making your reservation.

Shuttle to and from the campus will be provided at the following times:
Saturday: To Campus: 7:00am and 7:45am / From Campus: 7:00pm and 7:30pm
Sunday: To Campus: 7:00am and 7:45am / From Campus: 5:00pm and 6:00pm

Other Activities

AMS Book Sale: Browse the list of Titles on Display in Albuquerque, featuring the newest publications from the AMS! Meeting participants can take advantage of special pricing discounts.

Complimentary coffee will be served courtesy of AMS Membership Services. The AMS Book Sale will operate during the same hours as registration.

AMS Editorial Activity: An acquisitions editor from the AMS Book program will be present to speak with Prospective authors. If you have a book project that you would like to discuss with the AMS, please stop by the book exhibit.

Parking

Private parking lots are within walking distance to the meeting and are located on Cornell Avenue between Central Avenue and Silver Avenue and on Silver Avenue between Cornell Avenue and Stanford Avenue. These lots have coin operated machines at a cost of \$2.25 per day. Exact change must be deposited in the machine.

Registration and Meeting Information

Registration will take place in Dane Smith Hall located on Las Lomas Blvd., across from University House on Yale Avenue from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, and 8:00 a.m. to noon on Sunday, October 17. Registration fees are \$40 for AMS or CMS members, \$60 for nonmembers; and \$5 for students/unemployed/emeritus, payable on site by cash, check or credit card. All talks will take place in Dane Smith Hall.

Social Event

The department of math will host a reception in the atrium of Dane Smith Hall, Saturday, October 16, at 6:00 p.m.

Travel

By Air: Albuquerque Sunport International Airport : Albuquerque is served by many of the major commercial carriers and several commuter airlines. The Sunport is located 2 miles south of UNM and 4 miles southeast of the Doubletree Hotel. Driving time to either location is approximately 10 minutes.

Traveling to Albuquerque by car: Albuquerque is served by two major interstates, I-25 (north-south) and I-40 (east-west). The Martin Luther King exit one mile south of the I-25­I-40 interchange allows access to the Doubletree Hotel (go approx. one mile west to downtown; hotel is on right between 2nd and 3rd Streets) and UNM (go east to University Blvd., enter campus, turn right on Redondo Rd., and follow it to visitor parking or residence halls).

Driving Directions from Sunport to Doubletree Hotel: Take I-25 north to Martin Luther King exit, turn left on MLK, go approximately one mile; Doubletree Hotel is on right between 2nd and 3rd Streets.

Driving Directions from Sunport to UNM: Take Yale Blvd. exit north until you dead-end at Central Ave. Cross Central Ave. to enter campus.

Transportation from/to the Sunport: Shuttle and taxi service available after all flights outside at baggage claim level. 24/7 service available from Airport Shuttle (505-765-1234; typical charge \$16) and Albuquerque Cab (505-883-4888; typical charge \$15). Sunport provides a shuttle to Rental Car Center. Doubletree Hotel does not have a private shuttle.

Getting around Albuquerque is easiest by car, but the city has regular bus service along Central Ave. from downtown to UNM for participants who wish to stay downtown. Taxi service is available but best arranged beforehand.

Car Rental: Special rates have been negotiated with Avis Rent A Car for the period October 9 to October 24, 2004, beginning at \$24.99/day for a subcompact car at the weekend rate (the weekend rate is available from noon Thursday until Monday at 11:59 p.m.). All rates include unlimited free mileage. Rates do not include state or local surcharges, tax, optional coverages, or gas refueling charges. Renter must meet Avis's age, driver, and credit requirements, and return to the same renting location. Make reservations by calling 800-331-1600 or online at www.avis.com.
