Update on new AMS fellowship

The AMS is strongly committed to better serving mathematicians of color. As one initiative, we have created a new fellowship designed to support the research and scholarship of mid-career Black mathematicians. The naming and details of the fellowship are currently under discussion and will be announced soon.

We would like to offer a sincere apology for rushing out an earlier announcement of this new fellowship that lacked a proper, respectful and Council-approved name. The prior name and description demonstrated insensitivity and caused hurt and anger, which we truly regret. We hope that you will continue to work with us as we strive to better serve the full community.
