undergraduate presenter at JMM

The AMNSF logoS, with support from the National Science Foundation, offered Undergraduate Student Virtual Travel Grants for JMM 2021 to U.S. undergraduate students to participate in specific poster sessions and speaking sessions. These grants were available to all undergraduate students in the mathematical sciences.

The grant covered the JMM registration fee at the Undergraduate Student rate.

This program supported full time undergraduate students currently enrolled at a U.S. institution who had been accepted to present at one of the following sessions at JMM:

  • MAA Undergraduate Student Poster Session
  • AMS-MAA-SIAM Special Session on Research in Mathematics by Undergraduates and Students in Post-Baccalaureate Programs
  • Selected AMS Special Sessions that focus on Mathematical Research

Where to apply

Applications were accepted online on MathProgams.org. An account (free for applicants) must be created in order to apply. The deadline to submit applications has passed and no new applications are being accepted at this time.

Am I eligible for funding?

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled at the time of application as a full time undergraduate student at a U.S. institution.
  • Applicants will be required to name an advisor or administrator at their institution who will verify their qualifications.
  • Any student wanting support must apply on their own behalf, even if they are part of a group project.
  • Note that the abstract deadline for the MAA Undergraduate Student Poster Session for 2021 JMM was November 6, 2020.
  • Students can apply for this virtual JMM support before they know the outcome regarding the acceptance of their poster or speaking abstract.

Details of support

  • Support for this program covered the Undergraduate Student registration fee to JMM 2021.

  • Please note that applying for this support does not enroll you in one of the presentation sessions and it does not register you for the meeting.
