TeX Resources
The TeX program
TeX software is available from a number of sources:
Other TeX Resources
Other valuable resources for a TeX user
- TeX-related publications
- The (La)TeX Navigator. (Owing to lack of staff, French and German versions are no longer maintained. Volunteers to provide translation support are welcome; please contact Denis Roegel if you can help.)
- Hypertext Help with LaTeX from the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (even rocket scientists need to read the manual!)
- CTAN -- the Comprehensive TeX Archive Network, with locations around the world.
Use the CTAN search facility, implemented by Jim Hefferon, to look for the name of a file you need, or search Graham Williams' TeX Catalogue by keyword
The TeX Catalogue contains concise descriptions of TeX and LaTeX tools and packages, mostly available from CTAN, and includes additional links to many informative Web pages and authors' home sites.
The search screen also contains pointers to other information sources.
- TeX Users Group (TUG)
- Donald Knuth's TeX pages
- Why TeX?, a comparison of structured document input vs. WYSIWYG, by Allin Cottrell
- TeX Frequently Asked Questions, compiled by the UK TUG
- FAQ LaTeX de l'équipe Grappa, in French (old, HTML)
- FAQ de fr,comp.text.tex, in French (newer, PDF)
- DANTE's FAQ, in German
- other electronic FAQs and mail addresses for TeX-related product information and assistance
- UPenn TeX Web page
- The LaTeX3 Project
- The LaTeX bugs database
- LaTeX: from quick and dirty to style and finesse, by Tony Roberts, University of Adelaide
- LaTeX resources page (many links, unfortunately not all up to date)
- BibTeX resources via public-domain TeX sites
- pdfTeX, a variation on TeX that generates a pdf file instead of dvi
- e-TeX reference site
- The Omega project
